Cody Peak

Looking into the abyss that is Central Couloir

Dave Cashman on No Name, with "Once Is Enough" in the background
Living in Jackson Hole for the '05-'06 ski season was a winter of dreams. A group of turkeys from the Colorado College moved there together to delay our progression into the "real world." Most of us still haven't seen it.

Of all the places we skied in Jackson, being on top of Cody Peak was my favorite place. It seems like every issue from every ski magazine has a picture of this mountain. Usually it is of Once is Enough.

The crown jewel is the Central Couloir, which narrowly runs down the two cliff faces off the top of the peak. It is as steep as it gets and has a mandatory cliff drop at the bottom. I think the names Once and Central should be switched because I always want to ski down Once again, but I don't think I'll ever want to ski Central again.
