After an absolutely frigid bike ride up the inter-Park loop rode and a skin across Jenny Lake, the climb up Hanging Canyon had begun. As soon as we were climbing, the sun had reached us and we went from down jackets to light shirts and sunblock. We were concerned about the mountains heating up too quickly so we hastened our speed. While Dana was helping Carmen, Davey and I set the bootpacks and skin tracks, ditching any weight we could at various caches.

The summit of the Jaw is spectacular. Huge cliffs are on all sides but the east face, and the views of the range are unreal. The north faces of the Grand, Teewinot, and Owen are right in your face. Woodring, Thor, Moran are on the other side. Rockchuck and Mount Saint John are to the east, as well as the stunning Hanging Canyon. Davey and I got up to the top on time and quickly transitioned to ski mode. The top few turns were a bit steep and exposed and then it opened up and the snow was perfect and creamy. We saw Dana and Carmen starting up the last pitch and decided to join them for a second lap.
